How to Enter Divorced Families

In situations where the parents are divorced, separate accounts should be created. The children/student(s) should be entered only once, under the primary custodial account, and the other parent will be linked to the child record.

 

1. Create an account for each parent. If the parent has a spouse, enter it as well.

 

2. Add the child(ren) on the People form only on the primary caregiver's account. If the parents share custody, choose one to be the child's primary account. It is important that the child not be entered twice as it will result in duplicates in the system.

On the child's person record, select each parent in the Mother and Father fields.
